We registered for the Samui Marathon, frankly as an excuse to go on holiday with Richard and Claris as we knew we were moving off to Qatar.
The local media mentioned that the Samui Marathon was the richest in Thailand's history. That is probably true and they did have a lot of helpers at their disposal. But it was only their second year doing the run, even the map of Samui Island on their web-site was the wrong way round.
Not many came from Malaysia due to the cost of travelling there. There was a lack of distance markers, no food on the route and other shortcomings but overall its always a nice experience to run in Thailand.
