Man Utd's Pre-season

Yes, I am a Man U fan since 1970 through thick and thin.

We are lucky that at least 4 pre-season games were on tele. The best players I've seen were:

1. The linesman in the game against Ajax. He must have been the only person in the whole stadium to correctly see that Ryan Giggs' free kick had crossed the line. Kudos to him

2. Edwin Van Der Sar. The best goalkeeping performance since Schemeichel. Correctly named man of the tournament. Even saved a penalty taken by Ajax's hot shot. No wonder we didn't go after Buffon.

3. Paul Scholes. The best "midfielder in the world" performance. He scored two against Celtic and one vs Porto. He can also tackle (but got sent off), give accurate passes and control the pace of the game. No wonder Steve McClaren wants him back. Watch out everyone.

4. Wayne Rooney. A genius. The chip against Porto was top class, so was the arm against the Porto player. Its a pity he will most prob be suspended. Utd need him

5. Ryan Giggs. Not as fast as before but three free kicks against Ajax all hitting the post. Watch out world.

6. Ole Gunna Solksjaer. Ole is back. Missed a sitter but had only a small gap to score between the keeper's legs. So M U hv two new players (Ole and Scholes). No wonder Norway hv immediately recalled him.

7. Michael Carrick. Definitely not worth the money. But, he can sure pass accurately under pressure. Lets give him a chance.

8. Patrice Evra. The best performance I've seen from him vs Porto. He is quick. A very able deputy to Gabriel Heinze.

9. O Shea. Getting better. A useful utility player, but should not be a regular.

10. Darren Fletcher. Absolute waste of time. What does Fergie see in this fellow Scot?

11. Johnny Evans. Only a reserve player, but actually a very good centre half already, for the future.

12. Wes Brown. Still makes mistakes (the bad back pass). But also quite solid. OK as back up player.

13. Peter Bardsley. A solid right back but not very exciting going up. I think need a better deputy to Neville.

14. Ben Forster. Reserve goalie. His good.

15. Rossi. Skillful and shots are on target. But small size, no speed and strength. Not yet.

16. Lee Martin, Simpson all for the future.

That is why I have confidence in Fergie. Even the young reserve team is good.
