Upon our arrival
Our biggest thank you goes to our most gracious host in Perth, Guy Taylor and his Malaysian wife Jessie.
Cold evening stroll at the jetty
Dinner before the race
Waiting for my late race finish in the cold
Fish & Chips at Cicerellos
After our last supper (sun still shining at 8.30 pm)
The infamous Charlie
Do you know, they gave up their master bedroom to us whilst in Perth (the ultimate sacrifice). They spared no effort to make sure we were as comfortable as possible. Took us around Perth, gave us the runaround of their lovely home, advised us how to do things in Oz.
Guy Taylor is a gentle Englishman, humorous, speaks Indonesian Malay and the most genuine cyclist I have ever met. He was in Malaysia from 1990 to 1997 cycling to and from work between PJ and the Golden Triangle. He made the front page of the New Straits Times no less. He has cycled all over Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, England and Europe I suppose, crossed all over Australia (Alice Springs is in the middle of nowhere) and introduced me to Google Earth.
Outside our cabin at Busselton
Guy and Jessie came to the race (camping in a tent) and took care of my wife whilst I was gallivanting doing the Ironman. We wouldn't have been able to cope without their presence.
Guy and Jessie, thank you very kindly for your warm hospitality.
